Common door problems we fix
Most door problems come from one worn or misaligned part:
- The door rubs or sticks: loose or worn hinges, which we tighten, adjust or replace.
- The door won't latch: the latch and strike plate are out of line, or the latch is worn.
- The lock is stiff or broken: we repair or replace the lock and handle set.
- You can see light or feel a draft around the edges: the weatherstripping or threshold needs replacing.
- The glass in the door or a sidelight is cracked or foggy: we replace it with tempered safety glass.
Draft sealing
Worn weatherstripping lets in cold air and water. We replace weatherstripping and repair thresholds so the door seals properly when it's closed. On one commercial job, the door needed a new concrete footing before we could install its new threshold.
Repair before replace
Locks, handles, hinges, thresholds and weatherstripping can all be replaced on their own, so a door rarely needs replacing just because one part failed. If the door or frame is damaged beyond repair, we'll tell you and quote a new one.

Usually. Locks, handles, hinges, thresholds and weatherstripping can each be replaced on their own. If the door or frame is beyond repair, we can install a new one.
